ELLE Style Awards: ‘It’s not what you wear, it’s the way you wear it’

The attendees to last night’s ELLE Style Awards proved that it is all about confidence when it comes to projecting true style. Bill Blass, designer (1922-2002), once said that ‘Style is primarily a matter of instinct,’ which echoes ELLE’s motto, ‘It’s not what you wear, it’s the way you wear it’. In other words, there is still HOPE for us aspiring fashionistas and beautyholics who may have had to tighten the purse strings these days.

The show was hosted by the chic Alexa Chung, who changed from her blue presentor outfit to a shorter black dress for the afterparty and wrapped herself in a Burberry coat later in the evening. The attendees vacated this intimate setting (above) and headed across the hall (below right) for live entertainment with Boy George.

Among those who migrated was Lily Cole, who was spotted wearing a Roberto Cavalli feathered hairpiece, which might I add, looks incredibly ‘Pearl & Ivy’ with a touch of ‘Pocahontas’.

Later in the evening, our Benefit Beauties spotted Emma Watson, style icon 2011, lounging with Lily back in the main show room (above), sitting back in these transparent chairs, surrounded by silver heart-shaped balloons.

A very-friendly Dermot O’Leary broke party etiquette and took lots of pictures with fans, while his date’s dress billowed around him. One of our Benefit Beauties is guilty of stepping (accidentally) on her dress!
