(Note: We aim to give you the ‘inside scoop’ to surviving Bestival. All these photos were taken on an Iphone.)
1. Always ask for directions: Roaming around clueless in a field full of mud without access to electricity and the internet is a challenge. Roaming around in a field that contains special stardust, a bollywood tent, and a wishing tree could be even more dangerous. We stayed in the Magic Meadow, with easy access to the ferris wheel and roller disco tents. All the fairy magic saved us from an impending hurricane that was due to arrive.
2. Prepare for Survival Dress: Although the theme was ‘Rock Star, Pop Star, and Diva’, we ended up looking more at home with nature than on the catwalks at London Fashion Week. Luke, our resident faux deer-stalker, waited patiently for the loo with his fellow camper at the ferry docks. Our make-up artist Sam turned into a bear.
3. Lastly, expect to wait. Whether it’s standing in the 3.5 hour queue for the ferry or looking for the keys to the photo booth, expect to spend a lot of time doing absolutely nothing, and enjoying the company of your fellow Bestival lovers.
