Refuge is so proud to have the support of Benefit. Last year, the Benebabes raised some amazing funds for our work with abused women and children by taking part in the incredible Mascarathon.
Every single penny raised by that event has helped to fund our national network of services, which support over 2,000 women and children on any given day. As International Women’s Day approaches once again, we wanted to tell you a little bit more about domestic violence and about how you can make a difference. One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime. This means that someone you know – a sister, daughter, friend or neighbour – could be at real risk. Of course, domestic violence doesn’t always involve black eyes and broken bones. Emotional, verbal and financial abuse can be just as devastating as kicks and punches.
If you are worried about someone close to you – or if you are experiencing abuse yourself – remember that you are not alone. No-one should have to live in fear. Refuge can help you to stay safe and support you to make decisions in your own time. Whether you need to escape to a refuge or talk through your options, we can help.
It is no exaggeration to say that Refuge’s services save lives. But without the support of individuals and companies like Benefit, they would not exist. There are so many ways you can get involved in supporting Refuge’s work this International Women’s Day. Until Next time,
