Wimbledon has been gripping the nation with its outstanding performances, noticeable knockouts and passionate wins; we caught up with our lovely friend Heather Watson and got her thoughts on the tournament after Andy Murray’s historic victory!
I could not be happier for Andy. Every Brit dreams of winning the Wimbledon title on Center Court and for him to accomplish that after all the hard work he has put in must feel amazing. It is so exciting for all of England and something I too hope to achieve one day too!
Although Wimbledon 2013 hasn’t personally been the best year for me, I have enjoyed it hugely. Playing at Wimbledon is great for learning new things, adding new things to my game, and always trying to learn and do anything I can to make myself a better tennis player. I like to gain experience and learn from the top players! I still feel I haven’t fully recovered from my glandular fever, I didn’t feel at my best however, I aim to improve this over the next few months! I love to play matches. The crowd have been amazing and are always so supportive! I love the vibe, the strawberries and cream and the etiquette, you have to look the part. I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to watch anyone court side, however, I did see the women’s singles match with Marion Bartoli on TV and of course Andy’s matches.
My plan now is to train and work hard; to be the best I can be. I will be training for three months in the States which will be great for me to concentrate solely on tennis and the perfect climate to play in. For now I don’t have any time to relax as I want to get focused for my next matches and my time off will come later in the year!
Speak soon, Heather!
We will be sure to keep you up to date with Heathers 2013 plans!
