Look Good Feel Better are one of the amazing Charities we support with the Bold is Beautiful project to help empower and support women in need. Look Good Feel Better is a charity dedicated to improving the wellbeing and confidence for women and girls undergoing cancer treatments. Look Good Feel Better help empower and support so many women in need including Phoebe.
Phoebe is 21 and lives in Richmond with her parents. She was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour (grade two frontal glioma) on her way home from college when she was 18 years old. She had surgery in November 2014 and managed to recover from the operation and go on to get her A levels and study at Oxford Brookes University. She completed her first year but sadly the tumour started to grow again towards the right side of the brain.
There were three types of treatment choices and they opted for Proton Radiotherapy which she could only receive in America. Luckily enough the panel agreed for her to go. Between October and December she received 30 sessions of treatment at the University of Florida Proton Health, whilst it was draining the tumour has been shrinking ever since.
Phoebe says “On coming back to England I was extremely self-conscious as I had lost about 1/2 my hair. I threw myself into practising make up more than ever and wearing colourful wigs. I was lucky enough to attend a Look Good Feel Better Workshop at The Royal Marsden in Sutton. I learnt a lot from the course and still use it in everyday life. The session also inspired me to start a course at Kingston College studying beauty, I’m currently on my level 2 and hope to start volunteering with Look Good Feel Better in the future.”
