Struggle with tired, dull looking eyes?
Hands up if you remember the last time you got 8 hours sleep… No one? It’s not at all surprising when you think about how many distractions life throws at us on a daily basis. From taking on extra hours at work and late-night Netflix binges to falling into the abyss of Instagram scrolling… The list is endless! So, we shouldn’t really be shocked when we wake up the next morning looking far from fresh faced and bright eyed.
Here at Benefit we’ve got some great makeup artist tips and tricks to help you fake a bright eyed makeup look when you’re actually functioning on 3 hours sleep!
1. Use a brightening concealer
The first step to achieving brighter, fresher eyes is to use a brightening concealer. Start with a small amount and build up to a level of coverage you’re comfortable with. A top tip to stop your concealer from becoming cakey is to apply lots of thin layers rather than fewer, thicker layers!
A great concealer to use to make your eyes brighter is Benefit’s boi-ing brightening concealer. The full coverage, creamy formula contains brightening melon undertones to colour correct undereye circles and has a radiant finish to keep eyes looking fresh all day long. Because let’s be honest; there’s nothing worse than dry, creased, tired looking under eyes.
2. Use a highlighter in the corner of the eyes
A great tip when trying to make your eyes brighter is to use a highlighting powder in the inner corners of your eyes. This will instantly brighten up your entire eye area and the subtle glow will draw attention away from any residual tiredness.
Benefit’s dandelion twinkle highlighting powder is a great option because the texture is superfine and won’t dry out the delicate corners of your eyes. It is a super pretty, soft pink shimmer which also looks great as a wash over your entire eyelid for maximum brightening effect!
3. Use a nude pencil in the waterline
A tool that is not utilised by enough people is a nude eyeliner in the waterline. This can do wonders for brightening up tired looking eyes as the colour and the placement helps to make the whites of your eyes look even brighter!
The perfect product for the job is Benefit’s roller eye bright highlighter pencil. This slender, nude pencil brightens eyes and spirits in one easy stroke! It’s waterproof, has 8 hours of wear and is a creamy, comfortable formula. What more could you ask for?! You could also use our classic and much-loved eye bright instant eye brightening pencil. This product also works amazingly on its own so, when you’re next having a makeup free day, whack this bad boy on and see what a difference it makes!
4. Use a blue mascara
This might sound a bit weird, but stick with me on this one, you won’t regret it! Swopping out your standard black or brown mascara for one that’s blue is one of the quickest and easiest ways to fake a brighter looking eye as the contrast of the vibrant blue against the whites of your eyes makes them look even brighter!
Enter Benefit’s brand new BADgal BANG! mascara in brightening blue! The streamlined brush makes root to tip application a breeze and it offers a 36-hour volumizing effect… as well as being an amazing vibrant blue colour that will add drama to any eye look! Not keen on a blue mascara? Use your regular black mascara as normal and layer BADgal BANG! blue to the tips for a subtle brightening effect.
5. Sculpt your brows
The final step in the journey to making your eyes look brighter is to sculpt your eyebrows. This step may seem a bit irrelevant, but eyebrows are what frame the face and without them you can look completely off balance.
At Benefit we know a thing or two about eyebrows and precisely, my brow eyebrow pencil is a winner in all our books! The ultra-fine pencil allows you to draw individual, natural looking hair strokes that are budge-proof for 12 hours! It’s available in everything from light blonde to cool grey, so you’ll be able to find the right shade for you!
