Working From Home Ideas to Stay Inspired

Things aren’t great at the moment, we know that. People’s anxiety is through the roof worrying about the health of friends and family, people are panic buying food, and to top it all off, we have to stay inside. Whilst this isn’t the best time for everyone’s mental and physical wellbeing, at Benefit we want to spread a bit of love and happiness to help you get through this tough stage. Whether you’re working from home, home-schooling the kids, or self-quarantining, we have come up with some fun ideas and activities to help pass the time.

Finally having time to…

Learn how to create the perfect winged eyeliner. Who else is with me? Now is the perfect time to practise any makeup looks you’ve been meaning to try out as it doesn’t matter if it goes wrong, no one is going to see you anyway! So dig out the Roller Liner, bright eyeshadows and bold lippies and get practising. You might surprise yourself at how good you are! If you need a bit of extra help, why not check out this YouTube tutorial on how to create an easy eyeliner look.

Try a new brow style

Do you have a naturally arched brow shape but wonder what you’d look like with a straight brow? Well now is your opportunity. Use your favourite brow products (we recommend using Precisely, My Brow) to straighten up your natural arch and create some bold ass brows! Or maybe you fancy giving soap brows a try? Use the clear wax from the new and improved Benefit Brow Zings Pro Palette to get the perfect fluffy brows.

Reorganising your makeup drawer

It’s a job that we all mean to do but always put off. Now’s the time to channel your inner Marie Kondo and sort out your makeup drawer for good! I personally like to organise my makeup by category and have all my base products, eyeshadow palettes, and lipsticks together. I also arrange them in the order that I use them which saves so much time in the morning! Cardboard or plastic dividers are a great way to keep products neat and tidy when you have limited space. Another thing to bear in mind is the shelf life of your cosmetics. It’s something that a lot of us (myself included) are guilty of, but it’s really important to get rid of any makeup products that are past their best to avoid any unwanted infections.

Liquid eyeliner and mascara – 3 months

Pencil eyeliner, foundation, concealer, primer and lipstick – 1 year

          Face powder – 18 months

Eyeshadow, blusher and bronzer – 2 years

Netflix series suggestions

Netflix is going to be a vital resource to cure boredom over the next few weeks, so having a good watchlist is crucial! Some favourites of the Benefit team include Love is Blind, Sex Education, Titans, Vampire Diaries, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Next in Fashion, Power, The Witcher, Atypical, IT Crowd, The Alienists, Grimm, and American Vandal.

Rediscovering a new hobby

Now you suddenly have all this time on your hands, why not pick up an old hobby? Maybe you used to play the guitar but haven’t touched it in years, or was in the middle of teaching yourself Spanish but had to stop when the business of life got in the way. Taking a break out of your day to do these fun activities will do a world of good for your wellbeing during these tough times. Or maybe you fancy taking up a new hobby that you can do inside, like yoga or painting. Who knows, maybe by the time lockdown is over you’ll be the next Mary Berry!

Household ‘world record’ competitions

A fun thing you can do to pass the time in your household is to create a ‘World Record’ competition. Compete against family members, flat mates or friends over FaceTime to see who can plank or juggle for the longest, who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouth, who can cook the most impressive cake, or who can run the most laps around your garden in 1 minute. Keep a leader board and decide on a prize to up the ante! Maybe the loser has to do the dishes for a week, or the winner gets a free Nandos (once lockdown is over, of course).

FaceTime pub quiz night

A fun activity you can do if you’re not able to be with family or friends during this time is to set up a virtual pub quiz. Nominate a person to be the quiz master and get your wine, beer or soft drink and join your family and friends on FaceTime for a fun quiz to bring you all together and forget about what’s going on.

We hope that this has given you some inspiration on how to best utilise your time and keeping a positive mindset! Stay safe Benebabes, we’re in this together and we’ll get through it together! xoxo
