Did you know that depending on your face shape you should be placing your contour and blush on different parts of the face? This is because we all have different features we want to accentuate and make the most of! Below we’ve got some tips and tricks on how to apply makeup for different face shapes, so you can put your best face forward!

Before you start make sure you have your favourite bronzer, we recommend using our Hoola matte bronzer, or if you prefer cream contour use our Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer 2-3 shades darker than your foundation shade! This concealer also works great for highlighting, just make sure you use a shade 2-3 shades lighter than your foundation! Lastly grab your favourite blush, if you have oilier / younger skin we recommend using a powder blush and if you have dry or mature skin try using a cream blush! Our range of tints are ideal for these skin types as they won’t settle into fine lines and are super creamy and longwearing!

How to apply contour for an oval face shape

If you have an oval face you will find your face is nearly twice as long as it is wide, because of this oval faces tend to have more symmetry.

Contour just under the cheekbones starting at ears and ending in the middle of your cheeks, you’ll want to angle your contour to the outer corner of your mouth. If you take you contour too far down, you can clean it up with your foundation brush or sponge and lightly tap to blend out. For a more defined contour dip a damp beauty sponge into a loose translucent powder and lightly sweep over the areas you want to remove. Then contour along the hairline to give the illusion of a smaller forehead.

When applying blush to a round face try not to use pearlised or highly reflective blushers as these reflect the light well and make a surface appear more round, which we want to avoid – matte blushers would be best for you.
